It was an evening of mini-games cum craft for medium T's fourth birthday and his little brother's first birthday gathering last weekend.

Before messy dinner-food stains and sweat drops tarnished the little guests' images, they were all asked to pose in their very own unique way, with or without props. This would eventually become their self-crafted party favour.

With Lunar New Year just round the corner, MFB decided to incorporate Red Packet Snap. The young children had fun hunting for their matching angpow to score points for their team. It was not an easy task as the angpows MFB chose looked really similar, and the children had to be very sharp to spot the correct one.

Game 2 was a real life Photo-Hunt. The children expended their limitless energy running wild looking for locations seen in the photos. Of course, MFB staff were accompanying the teams as they ran around yelling the photo numbers they found.

As the guests cooled down after all the running, they received their own photograph and a frame to decorate as a party favour and momento. Every child was excited to paste always-too-many stickers and make their own photo frame pretty. And unique, just like everyone else's.

As special as the frame and photo was to each of them, it also served as a reminder and analogy of how each one of them, and us, was uniquely handcrafted by God and indeed, deeply loved by the Creator.

God's Handicraft - You and Me!

"Hi, I'm little A and I'm a tree - Ting!"
"Hi, I'm little D and I'm a rooster - Ta-da!"
"Hi I'm little S and I'm an ape - Ooh ooh!"

And so sixteen little girls went round introducing themselves at Little A's seventh birthday event last Saturday. The theme of the party was being fearfully and wonderfully made by God (Psa 139:14), and of course, the games and activities were along the line of God's creation and eventually crafting something of their own.

They had an amazing memory, remembering each other's animal double and call-sign. As a result, they had a fun time calling one another and took a long time to decide which team won. Next, they had to match some of God's amazing animals to their special properties, like the "CAMEL" should be matched to "It has long eyelashes" and the "GIRAFFE" should be matched to "It has a 45-50 cm tongue". Each team won one round, so to break the tie, the score difference was taken into account and the birthday girl's team was edged out. Nevertheless, all teams win a token prize and were more than excited to begin the last activity --- Scrapbooking!

Each girl then sat down to do up a nice acrapbook page to include their picture with the birthday girl taken earlier. After almost an hour of hard work, each girl went home happily with their beautifully decorated page and hopefully, it introduced them to this new artwork well and got them started on a new hobby.

For first-timers, these girls were really quite good, here are some of their pretty hard work:

We are all God's handicraft. Just like the verse in Psalms 139 verse 14 says, "we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God". Knowing this, would we accept whatever "flaws" we have, and find out the purpose of it, or complain that God did not do a good job? Do you think He will/can do a bad job?

And from a 7-year old guest at the party:
"But not everyone believes in God right. Then how would they ever find out who made them?"

Whether you are a Christian or not, how would you answer her?

Boat, Brains, Balls and More!

Little S and L had a poolside party to celebrate their birthday together. Although grey clouds loomed in a distance, God was indeed faithful once again and held up the grey clouds. Everyone got to enjoy the afternoon of events under the cool, cloudy shade.

For the record, this was by far the largest guest list with the widest age range for an outdoor activity party - 32 children from 7 - 14 years old! It was challenging for MFB to come up with suitable games that "must have water guns (according to the host)" and along the theme of the Battle of Jericho scenario, plus having to take into account the varying age and abilities of the

numerous guests.

MFB racked their brains and finally decided to bring the children through three battles:

Round 1 - to SPY on the land of Jericho (Jos 2)

Round 2 - to cross the river Jordan (Jos 3)

Round 3 - to find the gold, silver, bronze and iron treasures (Jos 6:19)

It was a "boys versus girls" afternoon of games. Round 1 tested the memory and speed of both teams, as the children had to memorise the theme verse Joshua 1:8-9 and the position of the wordings on the ground. Both teams were evenly matched in terms of speed and accuracy.

Round 2 proved to be a man's game. Although the girls put up a tough fight, blasting their opponents and soaking their banner with water pumps, the boys did an excellent job in surviving the never-ending water projectiles and emerged champion river-crossers. They collected 35 out of the 50 balls (points) en route to the finishing line, compared to the girls, who were a tad too focused on sailing the boat across and ended up collecting only 5.

In the final round, where the children were tasked to search for the treasures and transport them to the finishing line, the ladies were so organised and efficient it seemed almost impossible not to defeat the playful boys.

Based on battles, the ladies had won 2 to 1, but based on the points-scoring system, the gentlemen beat the ladies and were crowned the winners that day. Nevertheless, well done everyone! Give yourself a pat for surviving the 3 poolside battles!

Water War

The looming grey clouds set the stage for a wet and wild war-zone. It did not help that the occassional passing cloud brought some shower, which added to the muddiness and mess of a battlefield.

The pre-party water-gun target practice session left many (toy) soldiers buried upside down in the ground and some dismembered limbs on the garden bench. Instead of re-setting the scene, the boys turned to one another and continued the massacre among themselves. It was hard to tell if the drizzle was causing them to be soaked, or the water from the guns. Nevertheless, the boys had great fun, unknowing the real battle had not yet begun.

Yet another little E turned ten last Saturday. (MFB learnt he had 4 other classmates with the same name as him.) As little E was into war games and army drills, MFB decided to bring him and his band of brothers right into the war zone, planning games that put to test their scouting and listening skills, including orders that challenged them to maintain self-discipline as a platoon, and not forgetting to mention the highlight of re-enacting the famous historical battle at Jericho! Of course, due to safety considerations, weapons used were the usual party props, brains and water-guns. No bloodshed, no gore – rated G for viewers – safe for parents or even for the passers-by.

Based on this party's theme verse Joshua 1:9 , the two platoon of boys had three battles to overcome and see which side emerged victorious - the Israelite Platoon or the Jericho Platoon. Of course, we all knew the historical victor was the Israelites with God on their side.

Despite that fact, Platoon Jericho was a great sport who put up a great fight which resulted in both teams having lots of good, wet fun. Of course, the birthday boy and his Israelite platoon emerged champions, winning 2 out of 3 battles, including stealing wristbands under the eyes of blindfolded watchful guards, preparing the march around Jericho obeying God’s instructions, and decoding the invisible message.

The party came to a close with both platoons watching the video of the battle of Jericho and reminded of the moral of the story that we will be victorious when we read and mediatate on God's Word daily.

So remember this, boys, "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Amazing Race (Season E)

It was a warm afternoon of Little E's tenth birthday.

But the young man, despite his sore throat, braved the weather and together with his friends, fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith - 2 Tim 4:7.

He and his 21 guests, in three groups, pitted their voices in Round One to navigate their team mates to collect pegs to gain access to items required later in the race, like hints and calculators. Red team emerged champs.

Next, they combed the turf through the lanes in Giant and the tank signages at the Unique Seafood Market, hunting for items and answers before racing to the pit-stop. For Round Two, Yellow Team and Red Team were on par, leaving the Green Team showing envious shades of green on their faces. Nevetheless, they pressed on and never gave up. Excited parents even followed the teams around to show their support and see their children in action.
All teams eventually met at the final pit stop where they were given their last task - to recall the theme verse and scan through sheets of seemingly blank papers to obtain the verse and be crowned for having run the race well.

It was a close fight and although Yellow Team emerged overall first, no one was eliminated in this leg of the race. Well done, everyone! You made it safely to the pit stop!

Seeing the sweaty yet satisfied smiles on their children's faces, some parents wondered if they would ever be invited to another MFB event as guests rather than merely their child's ~~chauffeur~~ chaperone... Year-end Review

The MFB management took little retreat to reflect and think about other relevant ideas to expand the business, thanks to the many feedback and suggestions of our customers. For example, MFB could supply snacks for events, sell books for the young of today, and even run workshops that teach important lifeskills to really help the children have fun and yet at the same time take home one or more valuable lessons.

Unfortunately, we have yet to launch any ideas yet due to time constraint. Do keep your ideas and feedback coming in though, and let us know how better we can meet you needs and not just entertain your little guests, but impart important lessons through play in our programs.

If it's not about moulding our next generation in the (up)right way, don't involve us. :)

These are just about a bit of what the children learnt from attending Little R’s seventh last Sunday afternoon. Isn’t the Creator of our earth amazing?

Within the limited party time of 90 minutes, the children (and even adults around) had fun running around and discovering more about the amazing creation of God. From food to animals and the human body, we saw how detailed our Creator has carefully constructed every big and little thing around us. As we breathe, you and I are living examples of the intricate handicraft of God!

おいしい (Oishii) Goodie Bags

Our "Fight The Good Fight" party has not only opened our minds to the life of the apostle Paul, it has also whet our appetite for Japanese snacks.

In our quest to make the goodie bag for the party unique, we discovered the Oishii (delicious) world of Japanese tidbits. This discovery has led us to offer goodie bags for all future parties. Simply select the items that you want and we'll pack them in either clear plastic or brown bag.

Fight The Good Fight!

Of course, it was a controlled "fight" at the latest MFB party. The MFB trio had organised this birthday bash (no pun intended) for a princess Little C based on 2 Tim 4:7-8, fighting the good fight, finishing the race well and keeping the faith to receive the crown of righteousness.

At an outdoor playground in Turf City, the children had great fun "fighting" for numbered ribbons, racing to collect gems and eventually winning the race set out for them. The heat of the outdoors added natural steam to the fight and race.

Also included as part of the game was that the children were to ensure that they do not lose their name tags while being in the game. By keeping the tag, they would add an extra sur-prize for themselves at the end of the party.

So yes, kudos to the skillful sneaky thieves (who else but the MFB trio) who, amidst the race, managed to make away with quite a few nametags. Of course, at the end, the children had each of their chosen cute little animal name tag back as part of their party souvenir.

It had been a rare party theme on fighting and racing, but then again, it is something that everyone is into on a daily basis, isn't it? What we are fighting and racing for in school or at work? What is important to us - are we keeping an eye on it?

Thank you for reminding us about the important lessons in life through the party, KC and little princess C. We certainly had fun planning... and a big thank you for having us around! :)

Let there be LIGHT!

It was a huge birthday blast for the pair of siblings, Little C and Medium C. From more than 30 family to friends aged 3-300, we all had great educational fun!

Although the fun and games were pretty much meant for kids, the adults had fun being the mobile "stations" whom the children needed to hunt for to collect items. The children also had fun going on twos, fours, sixes (How? You ask them) in the animal game, roaring and screaming in joy. And not forgetting the story segment, where the children had fun filling up an interactive storyboard, which started off boring and blank. The children filled up the storyboard with characters created by God with their little hands.

With door hangers as momentos and a self-made animal paperbag each to contain their party loot, everyone certainly left the party reluctantly with lots of goodies and memories from this underground party, literally.

Dino-rawr Party

What do Pterodactyl and Dimetroden have in common? Both are dinosaurs. A fact that we at MFB picked up while planning a dino cum animal theme party for little TL.

What do dinosaurs and animals have in common? Both are created by God. A fact that the kids at the party learned through puzzles, game, craft and story-telling. Friendly adults also had a fun time taking part in the game when the children went hunting for animals and presents!

Each kid got to take home a personalized door hanger to remind them that God made all creatures, including themselves.

Pizza Parlour

At a tender age of 4, Little C wanted to have a party where she and friends get to serve the adults… amazing how mature kids are these days huh! And so this idea of a pizza party came out of the pan, with the children going about serving one another in love (Gal 5:13).

To ensure that the children got their orders right, and the eventual pizzas were safe for consumption, MFB ensured only cooked toppings (i.e. pineapple, mushrooms, sausages, tomato sauce, cheese etc) were available for orders on an order sheet, and of course the hot toaster and trays were manned by MFB.

The kids had fun hounding the adult guests for orders, and rushing to the Pizza Parlour to prepare their pizza orders. The adults looked equally entertained, seeing how responsible their child(ren) can actually be, and of course, they enjoyed the nice change of having their children prepare lunch for them for once.

With latecomers warned about having less choice for their toppings (pineapples and mushrooms were “sold out” that afternoon), most guests did turn up on time… :)

MFB - My Fun Bakers!

We bake too!

It was yet another Bible-themed party - Noah's Ark - and we have a great time learning to be obedient to our parents and teachers. And in the process, we baked a special allergy-free cookie ON THE SPOT! Right under the scrutiny of parents and friends, we had the kids add in the ingredients to bake this DEW-free cookie: dairy-free, egg-free and wheat-free.

What a safe way to get the children involved in the baking process without worrying about them eating the raw dough or the ingredients going bad!

We hope the parents had a great time and do go home to try out the receipe yeah. :)

You Dye, I Dye

We had a fantastic party based on the colourful life (and coat) of a man in history named Joseph - how his brothers were envious of him, how God had a great plan despite the tough training process.

The children had fun rolling their own shirts with the various patterns they had in mind, and then dropping them into the dyes. Although they were unable to wear their craft home, the children sure enjoyed the surprise of unrolling their own shirts and seeing how each of their pattern turned out to be!

Lessons learnt:
1. We each have our own colourful lives to lead.
2. We are all uniquely created by God.
3. He has a different plan for each of us.
4. So look ahead and trust God to give us the best-suited pattern!
